Tapestries have come a very long way and are used extensively in redecorating homes. European tapestries enjoy maximum popularity, they are not just magnificent but also much sought after all over the world.  If you wish to visit virtually the land of quaint cities and villages, European tapestries are the best variety. In the European tapestry category, one can still easily find the beauty and the art of the bygone era. Designs and colors of European tapestries are inspired from the art and culture during that era. 

Interestingly enough, our European Tapestries are woven in the United States with locally grown cotton from the Carolinas.

As an interior decorator, I have been hired to redecorate various homes. I usually notice that walls are most often neglected and left bare. There are so many things to do with a bare wall.

I usually use of art tapestries to liven up a wall. Just a simple tapestry can make a significant difference. My clients are amazed at what a wall tapestry can do. I tell them it’s just a matter of knowing what will work best.

Today people want to be unique, they want to be noticed, and they want to be cutting edge. The ways people decorate their houses and apartments reflects on who they are. Someone who has a bare home devoid of personalized décor could be perceived by others as trying to hide something. Another person, with garish and tacky décor may be a bit obnoxious. People may not want to admit that their taste and style influence other people’s perceptions, but they should–because sooner or later those bad decorating choices are going to come back to haunt them.

Art tapestries may seem old-fashioned to modern art collectors, but with the advent of “shabby chic” style they are more popular than ever. There are many choices when it comes to art tapestries. Many tapestries are imprinted with classic artwork, and others are weaved with unique, one-of-a-kind designs. Tapestries can come in a variety of different colors, sizes and shapes. For example, parents may choose to decorate a new baby’s room with a large baby duck tapestry. A bachelor may choose to decorate his apartment with the classic dogs playing billiards tapestry.

“A Rough Start” Western Horse Tapestry.  When I got my new home with my new husband, I could not wait to decorate it.  I wanted to hang art on the walls that was truly a welcome sight when people stepped in through the doors.  I found wall tapestries to be the perfect balance of classic art and soft lines that I wanted in my house.

I haven’t figured out the arrangement yet, but I think I’m moving in the right direction at least.  My house is going to be an amazingly welcoming place to be.

But for those new to tapestries, the choices can be a bit overwhelming. The types of tapestries available have become as varied and diverse as the people who purchase them. Understandably, it can be hard to know where to begin when choosing the piece that is right for you.

The main thing to keep in mind is that, ultimately, it all comes down to your own personal preference. Remember, you are attempting to pick out something that will speak to your personality – a piece that is, in essence, an extension of who you are. When viewed in this light, there really is no right or wrong way to select a tapestry. So it should be no surprise that any decision regarding what to purchase will likely involve a great deal of heart and soul. However, if you are new to tapestries, you may want to keep a few tips in mind when shopping for that perfect piece.

Wall tapestry is a form of textile art. It is woven by hand on a vertical loom. It is weft-faced weaving, in which all the warp threads are hidden in the completed work, unlike cloth weaving where both the warp and the weft threads may be visible. In this way, a colorful pattern or image is created. Most weavers use a naturally based warp thread such as linen or cotton. The weft threads are usually wool or cotton, but may include silk, gold, silver, or other alternatives.

Both craftsmen and artists have produced tapestries. The ‘blueprints’ on cardboard (also known as ‘tapestry cartoons’) were made by artists of repute, while the tapestries themselves were produced by craftsmen.
